Wesley Mission Australia's website suffered from poor performance scores that were negatively impacting both user experience and search engine rankings.
Challenge
Poor performance metrics across the board: Desktop PageSpeed of 74, Mobile score of only 36, and GTmetrix Grade D with 58% performance. Slow load times (4.9s LCP) were hurting both SEO rankings and user experience, particularly on mobile devices.
Solution
Conducted comprehensive code review and optimization over 2 weeks. Implemented performance best practices including code refactoring, asset optimization, lazy loading, and technical SEO improvements. Optimized Core Web Vitals with focus on LCP, FID, and CLS.
Results
Dramatic performance improvements: Desktop PageSpeed increased from 74 to 97, Mobile from 36 to 62, GTmetrix grade improved from D (58%) to A (92%). Largest Contentful Paint reduced from 4.9s to 1.1s. Total Blocking Time decreased from 200ms to 33ms. These improvements significantly enhanced both search rankings and user experience.
